Rey Aguilar has become one of the South Texas’ most sought after dj’s which is quite an accomplishment for someone who has just turned 18. He began gaining notoriety for his skills on the decks when he was 15, just a sophomore in high school, headlining stages at events and clubs with dj’s 5-10 years older than him. He also earned his first residency at age 16 at Club Agave Blue in Reynosa, Mexico. A gig that would soon launch his career as a club dj in Reynosa as word of mouth spread about his ability to give the crowd what they want. Already mastering the creative art of mixing and programming, Rey felt he needed to add more to his arsenal. Since he admires turntablists like Dj Craze and Mixmaster Mike, it was only natural that he practice turntablism. His newly learned skills helped him take his dj game to another level quickly earning the respect from fellow dj’s as well as their gigs. It was only a matter of time before Rey became the go-to House dj in South Texas as his name was the first on every promoter’s list opening for acts such as Bad Boy Bill, Mixin Marc, Miss Lisa, Steve Smooth & JJ Flores, Kid Icarus , Bryan Cox, Alex Peace, and Dave Aude.

By age 17, Rey had attained the experience and knowledge of the club scene that many djs older than him dream of. A veteran dj and still in high school, Rey began tinkering with production software and now he has his hands in the production game producing his own tracks of the electro and house persuasion. On top of that, Rey joined forces with his friend Fern Arguello to form Retrovox, a dj/production duo which is currently the hottest dj act in South Texas. Now 18, Rey is still the top House dj in South Texas and is credited with pushing Electro sound that as it now become preferred genre for DJs in Rey’s area.

The future will only hold bigger and better things for Rey Aguilar.

RETROVOX (Rey A. and Fern A.) has been making waves in the Electro House scene with many of their original productions. Getting nods for their tracks from top electro and house producers like John Aquaviva, the Verdugo Brothers, and Granite and Phunk, Retrovox has become the most in demand act in South Texas. They are receiving major recognition as their productions are being signed to labels such as, MTY records, Immense Recordings, USD Records and now they’re talents have landed them with PBR Recordings.
