Strange Breaks & Mr. Thing

Part II

The second installment in the five part “Strange
Breaks & Things” series contains superb songs; some you’ve probably
never heard of, some which may make you go: “I recognize this
sample!”…because it was once used as the backdrop for a classic Hip Hop
track. If you liked the legendary “Strange Games” compilation series
on BBE compiled by the likes of Kenny Dope & DJ Spinna, you’ll love
“Strange Breaks & Mr Thing II”

Julien Dyne

Pins & Digits EP

Best know for his work with Fat Freddy’s Drop, this is
Julien’s first worldwide release. Taken from the album of the same name,Julien
has created a blend of Jazz-Electronica with a hip-hop background leaving it
impossible to define as any one genre.

Georg Levin

Better Life Remixes

A Collection of Remixes of Georg’s ‘Better Life’ track
from ‘Falling Masonry’. It’s a journey through 4 different producers showing
the complexity of the song within. Mainly focussing on dance and dub mixes from
the likes of Jerome Syndenham, Boddhi Satva and Restless Soul (Phil Asher).

The first BBE release for Hungary’s DJ Bootsie, with elements of Hip-Hop and
sound-scapes all blended perfectly, this EP is an insight in the Wonky side of
Hip-Hop.

ROBERT STRAUSS – Odyssey Man EP

The latest offering from acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Robert Strauss is a
breath of fresh air from the soul/funk/jazz sphere.

DJ DEVASTATE – Movement/Silence

A relative newcomer on the scene, Devastate is breaking boundaries in Hip-Hop
with his unique style of mixing coupled with an in depth knowledge of Jazz and
Hip-Hop, whereas others are combining Genres, Devastate has managed to create
his own.

FUTURE SOUND OF BRASIL – Various

A Collection of forward thinking Electronic dance music from some of Brasil’s
best known DJs, such as DJ Marky, Gui Boratto and many others

DJ SPINNA – The Boogie Back

A collection of post-disco club jams from DJ Spinna, including many of his
own personal favourites and some forgotten classics.

JULIEN DYNE – Pins & Digits

Best known for his work with Fat Freddy’s Drop,Julien Dyne is regarded as one
of New Zealand’s finest musicians, using elements of Jazz, Electronica and
Hip-Hop in an Organic texture to create wonderful sounds.

JOHN MORALES – The M&M Mixes

It’s not often that one man can change the course or music, but through his
life John Morales has achieved that. This is a look at some new and forgotten
mixes from the master

….and all this before the end of the year.

Phantogram are on tour in Europe at the moment. we’re

Fabric, on Friday the 30th. Also playing are Shortee Blitz & Spin Doctor.
